“Thank you.”

“Your prints are gorgeous too. Not what I would have

expected though.”

“Why is that?” Jill propped herself against the

breakfast and simply watched Mackenzie.

“First impression of the house I guessed more modern

furniture.”

“Ah, that would be because of Sarah. She was part

American Indian. When she died, I kept the prints.

They meant a lot to her and she always wanted a house

with an American Indian theme.” “It is gorgeous.”

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” Mackenzie turned to face Jill. Her

face still lit up from the magnificent house.

Jill needed to quickly change gears or they were never

going to make it out of the house. That wasn’t

necessarily a bad thing, but she wasn’t quite ready for

the bedroom just yet. “I thought I would take you out

for dinner tonight.”

“I thought we were staying in?” Mac was slightly

confused. Why would Jill bring her here if they were

going out to dinner?

“We are. Kind of. Follow me.” Jill headed to the

French doors which led to a deck and soon, a boat

dock.

“Wow.” All Mackenzie could do was stare at the

magnificent yacht docked before her.

Jill stepped on board first and offered her hand.

Mackenzie stood motionless, still in awe.

“Mac, you okay? You do like boats don’t you?” Mackenzie quickly nodded,“Yes--yes, I love boats.

You just keep taking me by surprise is all.”

“All, good surprises I hope?”

“Yes.”

She smiled. “Good, then let’s get out of here.”

She led Mackenzie to the helm and started the engines

which stirred up the bay water, and slowly Jill engaged

and the yacht eased away from the dock. They pulled

out of the small island area and rounded the corner of

the bay.

“Hang on!” It was the only warning Mackenzie had

before Jill opened the throttle.

Mackenzie smiled and held on as the wind raced

through her hair. Water sprayed up from the sides of

the boat and she was mesmerized as she stood looking

out from the bow. Jill steered the yacht out of the bay

and into the ocean. She made a left and headed out

towards Gulf Beach. She knew the Blue Angels would

be doing training flights tonight and thought it would

be nice to take Mackenzie out towards the base. Mackenzie sat up towards the bow, her legs stretched

out watching people walk along the beach and the

multitude of restaurants filling up. After what seemed

like a beautiful eternity, Jill slowed the yacht and

dropped anchor. Then she brought a bottle of wine

and two glasses to where Mackenzie was sitting.

“I hope you like the wine.”

“I’m not too picky.” She sipped the Cabernet. “It is

beautiful out tonight.”

“Yes, it is.” Jill gazed out over the water. She seemed

lost in thought.

“How long have you had your boat?”

“Sarah and I bought it when we were stationed in San

Diego, about 8 years ago. We both loved boats and we

wanted to be able to getaway and be together, away

from the world. It was perfect.”

“It still is,Commander.” Mackenzie smiled at her

hoping to put her heart at ease. She had no intention

of replacing Sarah, and it meant a lot to her that Jill

was sharing this with her. Jill nodded and then smiled, seemingly returning from

the lost world she’d been in

“Are you hungry?”

“Starved.
